chapter 3

Whats next in this crazy world of salt? I couldn't imagine that the Celts were the salt people. I didn't think it could get this much more involved with salt. I was surprised to learn about these people because i knew little about him before hand. These barbaric people are connected to the Egyptians and the Chinese in a salty way.

I thought it was interesting the Celts came up with the idea of cured ham. It's pretty exciting that many cultures then and now eat ham. I see how they were barbaric to fight over ham.........I'd wish they could have been documented in someway. Other cultures could have changed the idea of the Celts. They could have been different kind of people from the inside.

The Celts are like the Egyptians in that they knew salt is a persever. The Celts did do some preserving of their people. It was fascinating that the colors stored in salt stayed vibrant. The Celts have more relations to the Egyptians then would have ever put together. They both figured that it wasn't profitable to trade and transport salted food. The Celts really weren't barbaric in the sense of innovation. They were productive productive people. They started agriculture, horsemanship, and cremated their dead. I always thought of horsemanship was a Native American discovery. This is very interesting the so called "barbaric people" were so intelligent.

Nice pun on words there you are quite the punny girl. I also thought it was very interesting that they came up with ham, and I love them for it. Yah I do not really like the fact that we do not have any records of how the Celts felt about themselves. We only know what others thought. It amazed me to know that salt not only preserves the body but also holds colors. I agree when it comes to horse back riding I thought it was the Native Americans.

I hate the Celts for the fact that they came up with ham. I hate ham. I think its cool that they did have it way back then too, but I am still very angry. I thought that it was really cool too how the colors were still there after so many years. Overall, I think the Celts were pretty cool people for what they came up with.

The Celts are very popular with your classmates. We only touched on them in class just a tiny bit, but it would seem that their culture was quite advanced for its time. Too bad the Romans killed most of them off. As Mr. K states that most of the Celts didn't write anything down, so they are sort of a mysterious people.

Ham did seem to play a major role in their diet. I guess because it salts well? The Celts did do some pretty strange things, like fighting naked, killing over pork, dressed in strange clothes, etc.

Neat comments. You bring up some cook points about the Celts. Drawing connections between the Egyptians and Celts is cool too.

Oddly enough there were no horses in the new world until the Spanish introduced them into Mexico in the 1600's, so horsemanship was not invented from Native Americans.

Cool Quote: "...so called "barbaric people" were so intelligent."

Nice post,
